 The Perth Polar Bear Plunge began in 1994, as a fundraising idea for Crime Stoppers.
Founded by David Lavery, and others at the Perth Legion, it quickly
grew into one of Since its beginning, the Perth Polar Bear Plunge has raised in excess of half a million dollars. The 2026 recipient is the Royal Canadian Legion, Perth-Upon-Tay, Branch 244. "Canada’s largest Veteran support and community service organization, the Royal Canadian Legion cares for all those who have served our nation. As members, they show their thanks by supporting and advocating for Veterans, by remembering their sacrifices, and by continuing the tradition of service in helping their communities." |
